Join our Management Committee

Why become a member?

Joining the management committee will benefit you in a number of ways. You will:

With all the changes taking place in health currently , this is an especially exciting time to join our organisation.  In response to external changes we are going through a radical period of change, development and transformation.  This all means that right now we can offer potential board members an exciting opportunity where they can have a real positive and lasting impact on our organisation and its work.

“It’s great to be part of something that is respected across the North
Sheffield estates and especially under the new lead and direction that Tim the manager is giving it.”

When we meet

The Management Committee currently meets on alternate months. Meetings last a maximum of two hours. Occasionally extra meetings are held if there is special business to be considered and there is an active Finance Sub-Committee which meets separately and reports to the main committee.

What is discussed

The meetings follow an agenda which is sent out beforehand. Items include finance reports, staff reports, staffing issues, forward planning and health & safety. Any confidential items are discussed at the end of the meeting.

Who we want

We are looking for people with expertise relevant to our work.  This includes people from communities with health needs, medical practitioners, local authority staff, people who have worked in similar community sector orgnaistations and people with marketing or business development expertise.  Primarily we are looking for professionals with skills and experience that can benefit the organisation.  We are currently particularly interested in applications from GP’s (or other health professionals), accountants (or other finance experts) , HR professionals and business leaders.  You should be interested in working alongside other committee members to oversee the work of the staff and volunteers, thus ensuring that Health Works continues to thrive and meet the needs of communities with health needs.

What would your role involve?

All we ask is that you make a commitment to attend these meetings wherever possible and ensure that you read any documents sent out prior to the meeting. Attendance at these meetings is the minimum time commitment expected, but you can become involved to whatever extent you feel is right for you.

Apart from the Finance Sub-Committee we have other working groups from time to time and we would welcome your involvement.

We also have volunteering opportunities elsewhere in the organisation if you have more time to spare. Our committee is made up of people who are Directors, or Trustees who have legal responsibilities and some others from agencies who are in the role of advisers.
