Healthy Activity Clubs

New to 2011, Health Works has launched a new activity club aimed at providing education for young people . These clubs aim to address and raise awareness through engaging education of real life challenges facing young people today.

Activity clubs are a great way to provide the busy parent faced with the 3.30 until end of work dilemna. In our unique clubs we offer a safe, friendly, creative club. Learning is made fun through an experiential method of facilitation to raise awareness and shape the thinking of the adults of tomorrow.

Within our activity club we use role play, crafts and exercise based activities to address themes such as healthy eating, exercise outside of sport, drugs and alcohol issues and the effects of smoking.

Health Works the Educator

Every Child Matters highlighted that the governments aim is“to ensure that every child has the chance to fulfill their potential by reducing levels of educational failure, ill health, substance misuse, teenage pregnancy, abuse and neglect, crime and anti social behaviour among children and young people”

At Health Works we have a wealth of knowledge to help youngsters make informed decisions when faced with these issues, this is knowledge is transferred through our educational sessions. We do this through fun and engaging courses that are written in-house. An example from one of our courses is promoting the healthy eating message. This can be done through a workshop exploring topics through role play, crafts, game play to act as the creative tool to facilitate an experiential learning environment. The quality of the experience is ensured through proven active reviewing techniques.

The contributors to our courses have extensive experience in community development in areas such as nutrition, mental health, alcohol, substance misuse and improving peoples overall health and wellbeing.
Our courses replicate the way we practice. We work with participants in a holistic way as we believe education is power and with this we can bring around sustained change. We are fully committed to the national curriculum current thinking that the personal development of pupils, spiritually, morally, socially and culturally, plays a significant part in their ability to learn and to achieve.

We offer a range of standard courses alongside our bespoke courses that can be tailored to meet a specific need, such as “Is obesity prevalent in your school?”

We can work within schools, youth clubs and at events to raise awareness through creative education in a new and novel way. Please contact us to discuss our courses and opportunities further at admin@healthworks.org.uk or 0114 234 4445
