What we do

What Community Health Works Does:

Through community empowerment we deliver activities and projects that have a major impact on health and well-being in its broadest sense. Currently our primary focus is on using physical activities as tools to help in the process of addressing mental illness, obesity and social issues. Delivering these activities also plays a positive role in helping with the social and psychological development of participants. In many ways these activities also act as an engagement tool for developing more ongoing support structures.

There are currently four main strands to the work of Health Works:

1.) Training
2.) Volunteering
3.) Delivery of activities
4.) Health improvement consultation

These strands link in a positive way, with each supporting the development and continuation of the others. Training acts as a tool for volunteer engagement; volunteers support the delivery of activities; and activities also act as an engagement tool to recruit volunteers.Training improves the skills and understanding of volunteers, and in turn the quality of the activities they deliver. Health improvement consultation feeds into all the other strands of the organisation
